Programme Notes

The first movement of Rebecca Clarke’s viola sonata shows off the viola’s strength and versatility of emotions with a grand introduction and sensitive second subject.  Vieuxtemps’ Elegie and Barcarolle are both lyrical and are complemented by the viola’s mellow and somber tone while having moments of virtuosity and delicacy.
