Stéphane is a Cork-based Double Bassist born in Dublin in February 2000. He began learning Double Bass in September 2004 with Waldemar Kozak in DIT (now TUD), before beginning lessons with David Whitla in the MTU Cork School of Music in 2012. In September 2018, he moved to Cork in order to begin his studies in the BMus class of 2022.

Stéphane has displayed a strong passion for ensemble and orchestral playing, having played with such groups as the RTÉ NSO, Camerata Ireland, and Cork Opera House, as well as future engagements with groups such as the Vanbrugh Quartet, including his side-by-side experiences with the Royal Amsterdam Concertgebouw Orchestra and the RTÉ NCO. This love of performance began with his youth orchestra experiences, including 6 years with the National youth Orchestra of Ireland, and 4 courses with the Vienna Youth Orchestra (WJO) between 2017 and 2019, including 2 tours through Austria and Romania, for which he was section leader.

He also displays a very keen interest and affinity for solo performance, having come 1st place in the CSM Senior Recital Competition in 2017 and in 2022 was the winner of the CSM’s most prestigious award the Advanced Recital Competition.

Stéphane continues to work as a freelance musician in Cork, playing regularly with multiple groups, including the East Cork Orchestra, Cork Opera House Concert Orchestra, and other smaller ensembles across a wide range of styles.
