Born in 2002 in Houston Texas, Ben moved to Ireland in 2007. He began playing the clarinet at age 13 in various bands and orchestras in Belvedere College. He has diverse musical interests participating in concert bands, orchestras and jazz bands whilst exploring different genres as a solo musician. In his 3rd year of a BMus, Ben has studied with Paul Roe and is currently spending a semester studying under Thorsten Johanns at the University of Music Franz Liszt Weimar.
Ben has competed and performed at numerous competitions and recitals including performances at Feis Ceoil, TU Dublin Conservatoire competitions and many concerts in TU Dublin both as an ensemble member and soloist. He has participated in the TU Dublin Wind Ensemble and Symphony Orchestra, the Irish Youth Wind Ensemble and is a founding member of the TU Dublin Jazz Society. Ben is also a member of the choir New Dublin Voices and has competed and performed with them in European competitions. During his time at TU Dublin, he has actively participated in chamber music performing numerous works including Mozart’s Clarinet Quintet, Schubert’s Der Hirt auf dem Felsen and Saint-Saens Sonata for Clarinet and Piano. |
